The writing process is illustrated with a circle because there is much about writing
that goes in circles. For example, when you finish one piece of writing, you have
new questions and ideas that can lead to another piece of writing. Also, notice how
"getting responses" appears twice in this illustration. In fact, all the
parts of the process tend to recur. When you revise, you often have to reorganize,
too. Also, when you get responses, you can understand how well you're getting
through to your audience.
