 Grading Procedures

Seton Hall University has implemented the new Banner system; which affects how teachers will submit grades on behalf of their students.  Project Acceleration Faculty are required to enter grades online. Please contact the Project Acceleration office at 973.761.9224 if you are a teacher in need of your pin number.  Click Here to log in to the online grading system

Grade sheets may be sent at the end of each semester (typically in January and May). Seton Hall uses the following letter grades on the undergraduate level to indicate the record of achievement in courses taken:

Letter Grade Weight

Quality Point

A 4.00 Superior
A- 3.67
B+ 3.33
B 3.00 Good
B- 2.67
C+ 2.33
C 2.00 Satisfactory
C- 1.67
D+ 1.33
D 1.00 Poor but Passing
F 0.00 Failing
P 0.00 Pass
I 0.00 Incomplete
IW 0.00 Incomplete Withdrawal
AU 0.00 Audit
NR 0.00 No Record/Not reported
WD 0.00 Withdrawal

Please use the numerical scale to adjust your grades appropriately. Remember that a student must receive a C or better to receive Seton Hall University credit for the Project Acceleration course.

In emergency situations where students fail to complete the coursework during the semester, but where it is probable that they will finish the work, teachers may wish to assign an I (Incomplete). Once coursework is completed, instructors should contact the coordinator to process a change of grade form. If the coursework is not completed after 12 months or graduation, whichever comes first, the Incomplete turns into an IW (Incomplete Withdrawal), which is not reversible. Please consult the Coordinator of Project Acceleration when such situations arise to determine the appropriate response. With the exception of these special cases, the Coordinator does not intervene between teachers and students on any matter pertaining to grades.

Students will not receive a grade report from Seton Hall. Rather, at the end of the academic year, Seton Hall will send an unofficial transcript to each student participating in Project Acceleration. This document will be useful when students attend summer orientations at universities and begin to schedule classes. However, students should request that an official transcript be sent to their school of choice in order to receive transfer credit. Before the end of the school year, students can use their copy of the registration form as proof of registration.
