 Transferring Credits

The following list is provided as a guide to inform you of the response of various Colleges and Universities regarding their acceptance of Project Acceleration credits in the past.  Seton Hall cannot guarantee that every course will be accepted by every institution listed.  Since policies do change suddenly, we strongly suggest all students inquire about each university's transfer policy for Project Acceleration courses.

If a school is not listed, parents or guidance counselors should contact the institution.  Many schools did not respond to our inquiries.

All accepting institutions require the receipt of an official Seton Hall transcript.  Transcript Request Forms are available through high school personnel before graduation or from the Project Acceleration office at Seton Hall.  Once the form is filled out, it must be sent to Robin Branch in the Transcript Office.  The majority of institutions demand a grade of C or better.

Please contact the Project Acceleration Office at (973) 761-9224 or projectacceleration@shu.edu if you have any questions.  Updates to this list will periodically be posted at artsci.shu.edu/projectacceleration.

Items to Note:

1.                  Rutgers New Brunswick has several colleges, the policies of which are not always identical.  Rutgers New Brunswick and Rutgers Newark prefer to teach the basic English courses themselves and, therefore, ENGL 1201-1202 are not accepted.

2.                  Many institutions have one or more reservations with regard to acceptance.  These are numbered under the heading of “notes.” The key to the numbers is on the last page.

3.                  Public Institutions in New Jersey:

1986 Assembly Act No. 138 directed the New Jersey Department of Higher Education to establish a program to provide courses for college credit on public high school campuses to high school pupils, through institutions of higher education in this State.  This Act states, “A public institution of education shall accept pursuant to standards established by the chancellor, the course credit of a student who successfully participates in the program.”  Students may still be required to submit a transcript.

A Note to Parents:

When calling the Colleges and Universities, contact the Admissions Office or Registrar’s Office in order to determine their policy.  If your son/daughter has decided on a major already, you might check with the appropriate departmental chairperson.  Explain that your child will receive Seton Hall University credits for courses taken in high school and that, if requested, an official SHU transcript will be sent.  If you do not wish to contact the institutions yourself, you might ask your child’s guidance counselor.
